Confirm the following to find out if online citizen police report filing is right for you:

1. This is NOT an active emergency. 
• If it is an emergency call 911 or CMPD at 714-754-5252.
2. This incident occurred within the City of Costa Mesa.
3. This incident did NOT occur on a freeway or onramp/offramp to a freeway. 
• If occurred in these areas contact the California Highway Patrol Santa Ana Office at 714-338-5500
4. You do NOT know the identity of the suspect or have information that would identify the suspect, such as name, address, license plate number.
• Online reports are for documentation ONLY and there is no expectation of further investigation. 
• If you have suspect information that requires further investigation, please call CMPD at 714-754-5252.

Please Note: All cases filed using the Citizens Online Police Reporting System will be reviewed. Upon review, if further information is needed, you may be contacted. If you are not contacted, your report was approved and processed.
