A fire truck used on Sept. 11, 2001 to respond to the World Trade Center terrorist attacks will be on display at the First Fridays Road Show on June 6 at the Costa Mesa Civic Center (77 Fair Drive).
Eleven New York firefighters assigned to the fire truck—known as Rescue 5—lost their lives that day.
Rescue 5—decommissioned by the New York Fire Department in 2011—now tours the country as a mobile museum and memorial operated by the Remembrance Rescue Project. The nonprofit is dedicated to keeping “the memories alive of those lost on September 11 and all firefighters killed in the line of duty every year.”
The First Fridays Road Show will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot. The free, family-friendly event features a gathering of car enthusiasts along with an exhibit of classic, custom and exotic vehicles.
The First Fridays Road Show is held on the first Friday of every month.
