Salary:
Police Recruit (during Academy attendance)
$40.00 per hour (6,933 per month)
Sworn Police Officer (upon completion of Academy)
$94,680 to $126,864 per year
Reserve Police Officer (part-time)
$42.50 per hour

Recruitment and Retention (Longevity) |
Compensation honoring CMPD officers’ sworn law enforcement years of service. In addition to CMPD time, Lateral candidates may include up to10 years served with their previous agencies. The incentive pay is as follows:

Vacation Leave |
80 hours accrual during year one. Accrual time increases with years of service. |
Sick Leave |
96 hours of available sick leave granted upon hire. Accrue 3.69 hours per pay period. Maximum accrual of 192, excess will be cashed out.
Lateral Police Officers may be eligible for up to 80 hours of sick leave credited to their Sick Leave Bank. |
Holidays | 13 paid holidays per year. |
Retirement |
New CalPERS members receive the 2.7@57 formula and contribute 14%. Lateral classic CalPERS members receive the 3@50 formula and contribute 14%. |
Deferred Compensation (effective July 2024) |
City contribution 0.5% of employee's base salary. |
Tuition Reimbursement | Up to $1,250 per fiscal year for qualifying tuition and/or textbook costs. |
