The Costa Mesa Police Department has a public affairs manager that addresses all media inquiries, production requests, and disseminates public information and news releases using Nixle and social media. The public affairs manager communicates with all divisions, bureaus, and units in order to ensure the appropriate and timely distribution of department-related news and information to media outlets and the community.

Public Affairs Manager Roxi Fyad is the department’s main point of contact for the media and oversees Crime Prevention, community programs and events, and the Volunteer Program. Fyad is the first civilian public affairs manager in the department’s history.
In 2006, Fyad graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. From 2007 to 2016, Fyad worked in public affairs at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) and served as the Hispanic spokesperson for the office before being named OCDA’s spokesperson in 2015. In November 2016, Fyad joined the Costa Mesa Police Department. Fyad has completed a variety of ICS and Advanced Public Information Officer training to include certifications from FEMA and CalOES, as well as, the Media and Public Relations certification from FBI-LEEDA. Fyad is also a member of CAPIO.

News Releases
The Costa Mesa Police Department offers its media partners, residents, visitors, and businesses the opportunity to receive important, official information directly from the department via Nixle. Registered members can receive messages via email, SMS/text message, and online.
Notifications include news releases, advisories, crime information, missing persons, traffic alerts, community events, and other messages related to the community. Information can be received online and via e-mail for free.
