The Costa Mesa Police Department began its Chaplain Program in July 1995 when Chief Dave Snowden swore in our first generation of Police Chaplains.

Over the past two decades, our Chaplains serve as "spiritual ambassadors" for the Costa Mesa Police Department, their families, and the community.

Our Chaplains are comprised of professional clergy members and members of faith based groups who serve in a lay capacity. Chaplains come from our community and volunteer their time to the Department and the people of Costa Mesa. Chaplains stay connected with the Police Department by going on periodic ride alongs with patrol officers, frequently circulate throughout the organization visiting with Department members, and attend all major Department functions.
