The Park Ranger Detail consists of seven Park Rangers, that are overseen by the Community Policing Sergeant.  Park Rangers patrol all city parks, athletic facilities, recreation & community centers, bicycle paths, schools, and all other public property within the City of Costa Mesa.  Park Rangers conduct patrol by vehicle, foot, and bicycle.  Park Rangers are responsible for handling calls for services in City parks and enforcing park rules, state laws and the municipal code.  Additionally, they investigate crimes and enforce state and local laws.  Park Rangers routinely collaborate with Costa Mesa’s City Outreach to address homelessness, and work in collaboration with Orange County Park Rangers to patrol the 180 acre Talbert Regional Park, in order to address unlawful homeless encampments that endanger nature preserves.

Sergeant Al Lopez supervises the Park Ranger detail.
