Home MenuCancer Awareness Project
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and November is “No-Shave November” for prostate cancer awareness. This year, 2024, the Costa Mesa Police Department is combining the two projects to bring awareness about the importance of early detection in the fight against cancer. The Police Department created a patch that represents both causes and officers are authorized to wear the patches on their uniforms for the two months. The patches are a reminder to our community, friends, family, and ourselves about the importance of early detection.
The Costa Mesa Police Department joined the Pink Patch Project in 2019 to combat breast cancer by raising public awareness about the importance of early detection in the fight against the disease and to raise funds for breast cancer research and treatment. This year, the combination of the Pink Patch with the blue to represent “No-Shave November” is the new patch available to the public for purchase with all proceeds going to the City of Hope to advance and support cancer research.
