This unit is comprised of Crime Scene Investigators working under a supervising forensic technician. These technicians are responsible for the locating, gathering, preserving, processing and documenting of evidence. Much of the evidence collected is examined in the Crime Scene Unit, with other specific evidence being forensically examined through the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Crime Lab. 

 

If you believe you have been the victim of a crime, you are encouraged to avoid handling items that may have been touched or used by potential suspects. This helps to diminish any contamination of potential evidence such as fingerprints or DNA, and helps increase the chance that trace evidence can be located and identified.
