The Property Crimes Detail provides follow-up investigation on all criminal matters involving arson, commercial burglary, residential burglary, vehicle burglary, grand theft, petty theft, and auto theft.  The detail is staffed by officers and civilians who receive extensive training regarding a variety of criminal activity.  Investigators are assigned criminal cases based upon designated geographical boundaries within the city.  They analyze large quantities of information, establish leads, and pursue those leads through contacting potential victims, witnesses, and perpetrators.  The Property Crimes Detail includes the Economic Crimes Unit and the Crime Analysis Unit.

Economic Crimes Unit

The Economic Crimes Unit is composed of a specialized group of investigators.  The members of this unit are assigned cases involving embezzlement, financial elder abuse, fraudulent checks, credit card crimes, counterfeiting, forgery, and identity theft.  Most cases being investigated by the Economic Crimes Unit involve some type of identity theft.
